UTTARAKHAND
Uttarakhand is a state of natural beauty and some of the untouched and unspoilt
natural places such as Nainital, Valley of flowers, Dehradun, Himalaya, Kausani

Also famous for it's lakes, mountains, forests, national parks, sanctuaries and
is also a favorite destination of wildlife lovers. The State is carved out of Uttar
Pradesh. It occupies 17.3% of India’s total land area with 51,125 sq. km. It has
a population of about 6.0 million at 94.4 per sq. km. International borders touched
by the border of state are Tibet, Nepal. Neighbor states are Himachal Pradesh and
Uttar Pradesh. Uttarakhand is also a major destination for adventure sport lovers.
Blessed with magnificent glaciers, majestic snow-clad mountains overlooking plush
meadows, gigantic and ecstatic peaks and clear mountain lakes. Emerald green dense
forests, serrated by deep gorges, reverberate with the gurgle of innumerable streams
and rivers that crisscross their way to the plains below. A splendid combination
of flora and fauna can also be seen. Many national and international competitions
of Skiing, Water rafting, Mountaineering, Rock climbing etc. are held every year.
The capital of state Uttarakhand is Dehradun which is surrounded by beautiful mountains
and natural beauty.
DEHRADUN
Nestled in the mountain ranges of the Himalaya, Dehradun is one of the oldest cities
of India and is the Capital of Uttarakhand. Also known as the ‘Adobe
of Drona’, Dehradun has always been an important center for favored tourist destination
as it attracts tourists, pilgrims and enthusiasts from various walks of life to
its serene environs. Add to this the abundance of special Basmati rice, tea and
leechi gardens which contribute in turning the city into a paradise. Dehradun has
a worldwide reputation as a center for providing an international level education.
As a result it has its name firmly etched on the international map of education.
The city has a temperate climate (temperature ranging from 7°C to 32°C), is 240km

ELIGIBILITY
Students who have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, chemistry and Maths
from the Institutes situated outside India are eligible. The examination must have
the approval of the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 examination
of the Indian System.
Foreign Nationals/PIOs should submit a copy of passport or equivalent evidence for
their Nationality.

PROVISIONAL ADMISSION CRITERIA
In case the result of qualifying examination is awaited, the candidate may apply
for provisional admission by submitting a certificate from the Principal that the
candidate has appeared for the qualifying examination with English, Physics, Chemistry
and Mathematics as subjects. However, he/she is required to submit the qualifying
examination certificate at the time of confirmation of admission. The candidate
will also have to submit a copy of the passport or equivalent evidence for their
Nationality. The candidate will be issued a “Provisional Admission Letter” on the
fulfillment of the above said requirements after payment of requisite fee. Based
on this letter, the candidates should contact the Indian Embassy of the respective
country for obtaining a valid Student Visa for the complete tenure of the course
i.e., four years. Last date for confirmation of admission is 30th June, 2008.
INTELLECTUAL JOURNEY
DIT has state-of-the-art library with fully automated LR’s and journals. The 24x7
library is Wi-Fi enabled with automated circulation of books through Online Public
Access Catalog (OPAC) search facility and over 200 national and international online
journals. Library has a fine collection of reference books which includes dictionaries,
thesaurus, encyclopedia, handbooks, proceedings, standards, data compilations etc.
DIT Library is equipped with online search units and installed with 3M Library security
system for round-the-clock protection of library materials and media.
INTERNET
The entire institute is Wi-Fi and internet facility is available to students round
the clock. Students can access the internet from their rooms.
Bookshop
The on-campus bookshop stocks publications, books, magazines and stationary for
the convenience of both day scholars and hostellers.
Video Conferencing
The institute has installed Toshiba Video Conferencing Equipment (Tandberg 880)
with 42 inch plasma display and a 26 inch LCD monitor-an excellent teaching aid
to observe and conduct expert lectures delivered anywhere in the world.
FACULTY
DIT has a long standing history of fostering excellence in academics by facilitating
quality faculty, unmatched all over the country. DIT staffs its college with exceptionally
outstanding, highly qualified and experienced faculty who are so very interested
and focused, truly dedicated and enormously prepared for the tasks and valued across
diverse academic fields. All departments comprise of qualified teachers who have
earned doctorate/masters degrees from reputed national/international universities.
Several faculty members are involved in research and have numerous research articles
to their credit and many have authored technical papers in international and national
journals and conference proceedings. DIT has a rich experience of corporate and

HOSTEL
The Institute has on-campus boys’ hostel blocks with a capacity of over 850 students
and a girls’ hostel block with a capacity of over 300 students.
The institute has a separate wing for Foreign National Students/PIOs wherein rooms
are single as well as double seated with attached washroom, fully furnished with
latest amenities and fully air conditioned(heated during winters).
A new girls hostel block with ultra modern amenities houses over 250 students.
Two blocks of the boys’ hostel house Independent single bed rooms with ingeniously
designed study space and a personal balcony opening out to scenic views of the Mussoorie
hills and the Doon valley.
The Institute also boasts of American Style Studio Apartment Hostel Blocks for both
boys and girls – one of its kind in North India with ultra modern amenities. Each
apartment consists of three well furnished rooms, a lobby, an attached bath and
a separate balcony for panoramic views, at par with five star amenities. One apartment
caters to a group of six students.
Reverse Osmosis Plant for mineral water is due to be installed. Toilets are being
provided with individual electrical geysers for hot water supply.
MESS
The hostel is served by separate dining halls for boys and girls. Continental cuisine
is available to foreign students on request. The Mess is managed by high skilled
professionals in Catering and fully controlled by the Institute. Meals, snacks,
soft drinks and juices are available in the mess serving hygienically cooked food.
The mess menu has been carefully designed keeping in mind varied needs of students
coming form different parts of the world. Multi-cuisine food is served in the mess
with special offerings during festivals.
The hostel premises also house the dining halls, the dispensary and Infirmary, common
room, mini gymnasium etc.
