The technical Education Quality Programme (TEQP) of the Govt. of India funded by the World Bank is the most prestigious program for engineering institutions of the country. DIT has the distinction of being the only private engineering college in Uttaranchal that has been selected for this program. DIT was selected by the World Bank because it meets the highest benchmarks in respect of Faculty, infrastructure, academic excellence and modern management practices.

  Under this programs DIT has achieved the following:

Academic Excellence

Several new laboratories in the department of Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Production Engineering have been established.
Some of the new laboratories are, Thermal Engineering, PCB lab, Robotics, Digital Communication.
MODROB – Existing laboratories have been modernized by acquiring the very latest state-of- the- art equipment.
Some `of the high value equipments are: CNC lathe machine, MIG, TIG, DSP kits, Digital storage oscilloscope, video conferencing equipment, high end computer systems, Intel 2* 3.4 proliant server, EDM.
Numerous software has been acquired: MATLAB, AUTOCAD, Finite element Analysis software…
The entire campus has been networked using Wi-Fi.
DIT has moved towards complete automation with implementation of the SIM software system.
A fully equipped multimedia language lab has been set up.
The library has been strengthened with numerous text books, reference books, national and international journals.
A multimedia learning resource centre has been set up with access to digital library (INDEST), server based online L’R’s (learning resource) and subscription to EDUSAT.
The 2 MBPS lease line is being upgraded to a dedicated 4 MBPS lease line.
Faculty members are being facilitated to acquire higher qualifications and several are pursuing Ph.D and M.Tech programs.
Faculty and staff members are routinely exposed to the latest technology and teaching methodology through conferences/ seminars/ workshops (both within DIT as well as outside)
Smart classrooms are being set up equipped with multimedia projection and PA systems.
Modern management practices with the focus on Autonomy, transparency and decentralization are being followed.
Innovation in the teaching – learning process, transparency in student evaluation and faculty feedback by students is implemented.
 
     
 

Networking with other Institutions

DIT regularly networks with college of Technology, Pantnagar University, GBPEC, Pouri and Kumaon Engineering College Dwarahat for optimum utilization of resources of the State in terms of faculty, infrastructure and high- end laboratories.
Joint conferences/workshops are routinely organized to enhance the existing knowledge base.
Students are encourage to visit these institutes so that they have a wider exposure.


Services to Community and Economy

DIT has provided training in basic computer skills to the youth of Kuthal Gram Sabha.
Along with MIT students DIT students have worked on projects like smokeless chula, water testing etc. to identify and solve problems faced by the rural community.
Training on welding, carpentry and fitting will also be given to the unemployed youth of the community.
DIT is training the new employees of Cavin Kare Company of Chennai and the augmenting 1RG.


All these provide a brief glimpse into the various accomplishments of DIT under the aegis of the World Bank. Our next endeavor is to establish a centre of excellence in a frontier area of Technology with the continued support of the World Bank.
